Basement Systems UK was established in 1995 initially as a trading division of our concrete repair and waterproofing business Polycrete Ltd.

In the year 2000 Basement Systems UK was formed as a separate limited company, exclusively dedicated to impoting products from Basement Systems Inc of the USA.

As the years went by Basement Systems UK developed additional products specifically tailored to the UK market for example the patented ThermalDry Membrane System which we have exported by the container load to the USA too!

Since the dealership agreement between Basement Systems UK Ltd and Basement Systems Inc of the USA came to an end we have been able to source the most innovative basement waterproofing products that the world has to offer.

Some of these products have been developed especially for us through Astrofoi International who granted us their sole UK distribution rights in 2004, others have been developed by Grate products of the USA. Grate products is owned by Steve Andras and his familly who after serving many years as the largest Basement Systems Installer in the USA (Pioneer Basements) developed their own truly innovative range of products which, in our opinion, due to their vast experience and dedication to continual improvement are the best in the world.

We source the most advanced and eco-friendly pumps from the most advanced Japanese manufacturer in the field, and are working with our partners Astrofoil International and Grate products of the USA on more new innovations for 2010 and beyond - maintaining our lead as the most innovative basement waterproofing company in the UK.

Between 1995 and 2006 our contracting buisness Polycrete Ltd (T/A Polycrete Basement Systems) grew from a south coast contrating business, to a national specialist in the field of basement waterproofng and cellar conversions, although about 50% of our work was still centered in the Greater London area.

In 2006 we opened a branch in Battersea and in 2007 this was formed into a new company - Battersea Basement Systems Ltd. Battersea Basement Systems has since taken over the aftersales service and extended warranties of all the Polycrete installations and we have gradually wound down our concrete repair operation to focus solely on the Basement industry.

In order to provide a dedicated local service on a truly national scale we are currently expanding a franchise network to cover the whole of Great Britain, and hopefully in the not too distant future Southern and Northern Ireland.

This franchise network will operate under the trade name 'The Grate British Basement Company' This is partly to distinguish ourselves from the historical reliance on 'Basement Systems only' products and to reflect the fact that we have a unique range of systems, specifically dedicated to the British market, the core of which will be made for us to our own specification by Grate Products of the USA - hence the name 'The Grate British Basement Company'.
